If the former railway line from Weissenbach to Hainfeld via the court mountain were to be converted into a greenway or cycle path, it could be used by a variety of potential users such as recreational and serious cyclists, hikers and walkers, nature enthusiasts, equestrian enthusiasts, families, tourists, rollerblading, skateboarding, Scootering enthusiasts for leisure, exercise, transportation, nature watching, birdwatching, wildlife observation, and as a destination for tourists. The success and popularity of the greenway or cycle path will depend on a variety of factors including location, accessibility, safety, and maintenance.
There is a plan to transform an abandoned railway between Weißenbach an der Triesting and Hainfeld into a greenway or cyclepath. The route was acquired by the state of Lower Austria and then resold to Plattl GmbH, which was commissioned with the dismantling, recycling and special disposal of the tracks and railway sleepers. The municipality of Hainfeld leases the route for use as a cycle and leisure path on a long-term basis, and other municipalities have bought the route in their respective municipal area with the intention to build a cycle and leisure path as soon as possible. The project is a multi-million dollar project and there is no concrete schedule for the implementation yet. The cycle and leisure path can be used on foot, with a stroller or as a cross-country ski run in winter if there is enough snow. Also, the same plan is mentioned in another news report: The abandoned railway line between Hainfeld and Weißenbach an der Triesting is being planned to be transformed into a cyclepath to alleviate the demanding section of the Triestingtal and Gölsentalradweg cycle paths via Ramsau with gradients of over 10% in some cases. The railway line was closed in 2004 for cost reasons, and now the state of Lower Austria owns the railway line. Construction work is expected to start in 2024, with the state of Lower Austria considering laying the cycle path instead of the tracks. Reports indicate that workers have been removing the tracks, indicating that there is an active plan to transform the abandoned railway into a greenway.(https://www.meinbezirk.at/triestingtal/c-lokales/die-triestingtalbahn-endstation-weissenbach-neuhaus_a1614923#gallery=null
